  Global Data Governance Mapping Project  By Adam Zable, Thomas Struett, and Susan Ariel Aaronson.  this report summarizes our third iteration of findings for the Global Data Governance Mapping Project, which began in 2020. As in year 2, we have assessed data governance in 68 countries and the EU. We did not alter our case study countries or our methodology in this year 3 report. However, in contrast with our earlier two iterations, we do not have a full year’s worth of data since our year two update was completed in the fall of 2022. usually report our findings in September each year.   Metadata (or meta information ) is " data that provides information about other data" but not the content of the data itself, such as the text of a message or the image itself. There are many distinct types of metadata, including: Descriptive metadata The descriptive information about a resource. It is used for discovery and identification. It includes elements such as title, abstract, author, and keywords. Structural metadata Metadata about containers of data and indicates how compound objects are put together, for example, how pages are ordered to form chapters. It describes the types, versions, relationships, and other characteristics of digital materials. Administrative metadata The information to help manage a resource, like resource type, permissions, and when and how it was created.
